AUTOMOTIVE NEWS-Heritage Classic 114 looks as if it came from a world where the 1950s became obsessed with the color of black chrome and not shiny.
In 1950 this inspired the "classics" of getting modern visual care that took it to the dark side. Thank you for the shiny 2009 Softail Deluxe existence in 2009 for the freedom to play with the new Legacy in this way. This is a "walking" Softail with a removable windshield and a new security made of hard leather that can maintain its shape much better than the previous leather bag .
Enter the passing car in Milwaukee-Eight V-twin and the bike seems more appropriate for the open road. As in 107, the double counterweight canceled the primary vibration and left the engine firmly mounted on the frame. However Harley-Davidson claims that the Milwaukee-Eight 114 launches the Heritage Classic from 0-60 mph 9 percent faster, and increases roll-on acceleration from 60-80 in the fifth gear by 13 percent, compared to the 107ci version. So fit and hit on the highway.
The mild steel tubular frame has also been redesigned and is 65 percent stiffer than the outgoing Softail frame. This new frame has 50 percent fewer component parts, 22 percent less welds and, with a solid-mounted engine, produces a rigid 34 percent rigid chassis. These and other changes help to reduce the weight of Classic Heritage by £ 32 for 2018. The slimmer side and the more precise steering also benefit from the new chassis.
The Showa Dual Bending Valve (SDBV) Harley-Davidson fork introduced many compliments on the FL last year's tour line which is now being applied in 2018 Softail motors. Showa Forks reduce weight and provide linear damping characteristics to provide a more comfortable and well controlled ride and better handling.

At the rear, single-under-seat coil shocks replace dual dual-engine shocks used on previous Softails. In this new design, conventional shock action - the rear wheels that hit the bump and hit the shock - while the old Softail design extends the shock when the wheels hit a bump. The performance is enhanced by offering enhanced wheel rides, more controlled damping and greater spring preload adjustment ranges, while retaining the look of the hardtail carried by the "unexpected" rear triangle frame.
Like all new 2018 Softail models, the Heritage Classic now features headlamp LED Headset daymaker delay and LED "winged" rotary signals
